the idea

The present is marked by rapid progress and constant change, which has been particularly noticeable in recent years. As everything is in flux, there is a growing sense of urgency and necessity to unite against divisive structures and actively assert our positions.

SPEDITION is an art exhibition organized, conceived and implemented by us - the artists.
From conception to execution, we have been intimately involved in every stage of the creative process, carefully crafting concepts for each unique space.

Change is important and brings us forward.

At the same time, it means responsibility.

It is up to us to steer changes in the right direction. For us, this entails promoting anti-discriminatory, anti-classist, anti-colonialist, anti-racist, unifying, and feminist thinking and practices.

Our aim is to bring independent art exhibitions to life, even during times of insecurity and instability. We prioritize collective solidarity, collaborative enrichment, and shared contexts.
Within SPEDITION, all approaches, techniques, and individual methods find their space.

During the past two years we have not stopped creating - it only became more invisible.

During the past two years, our labour, the artistic creation and all the work that goes with being an artist and showing art has not stopped of course. What stopped was the possibility of making our work accessible to the public and giving it a forum that it so desperately needs. Therefore, we started to exchange ideas and concepts for our projects more intensively and discussed them at various stages. With the intention to develop a unique and accessible exhibition concept, we have joined forces.

Now we are looking forward to SPEDITION entering its third round in 2023.

The first exhibition was a thrilling experience, as it involved bringing the works that had been hidden away in our heads, small studios, and attics out into the world. We felt a strong need to showcase these works, to bring them into a collective context, and make them accessible to a wider audience. This desire gave birth to SPEDITION.

As a "shipping company" (German: Spedition) we provide a structural framework for presenting artistic work within contemporary contexts. Making a work of art visible to an audience involves more than just creating the work itself. Despite our diverse individual approaches and materialities, we are united by a common learning process related to the professional challenges we face as artists.
